About melodygeek
There’s some great music being made in San Diego, you can hear it echoing in the local dives and small clubs nearly every night of the week. My name is Greg, and this blog will document some local shows in the San Diego. I’ll post live recordings of a song from each band, pictures of the bands taken by the talented Lilly Frances and written reviews/descriptions of the music and event. The main focus will be on local bands and smaller venues, and anything that falls under that vague, anomalous genre known as INDIE music. I may be friends with some of these bands and I will do my best to make my biases known. My aim is not to deride, but merely to shine a light on the nationally neglected San Diego music scene. Its not all Christian Rock and Pop Punk.
If you are from a band that I covered, and you want a song I posted taken down, please let me know, and I will do so immediately. I will do my best to ask the band before I post. Think of this site as free promotion.

For those interested, my live recordings are done in-audience with a Samson Zoom H2.

I dig the blog! Keep it up. And encourage some of those good San Diego indie bands to tour rural Colorado.
Nice Work. Keep it up..!
Great sight guys!! Top quality writing, pictures, and insight into some of the real-deal indie happenings around town. Cheers to you!
more pop punk!
What are you using to record the songs? They sound great!
I record using a Zoom H-2. It gets a pretty good sound I’d say. I usually have to mess with the EQ a bit afterwards, but overall, you get a pretty clear representation of how it sounded.
